The city of Indianapolis is hosting the fifth annual Indianapolis Chinese Festival downtown on September 21, 2013, at Military Park. This festival is held during the month of Chinese
Moon Festival, which is the second largest Chinese festival after Chinese New Year. The Moon festival in China is a celebration
of the harvest with family and friends.
Over the past decade, Chinese students and
families have become a major ethnic group living in Indianapolis. The Chinese Festival celebrates and shares the excitement of the Chinese culture and heritage with residents of Indiana. Visitors will experience and even participate in the famed lion and dragon dances, art exhibits, tai chi, musical and dance performances, crafts, and sports such as ping pong, badminton, Chinese yo yo and Chinese jump rope. Delicious Chinese food will be available on site. Visitors can finish the evening with a lantern walk along the canal.
